As part of Occoquan's Swords, Brooms & Magical Beasts Festival, Open Window Events invites you to discover The Traveling Teahouse — a magical teahouse said to appear wherever wonder is needed most.
For one enchanted afternoon, Mamie Davis Park will be transformed into a whimsical garden where travelers from every corner of the realms are welcomed to gather. Whether you hail from enchanted forests, soaring mountain kingdoms, hidden fae courts, or bustling magical cities, a seat awaits you at our tables.
Upon your arrival, you'll be welcomed by one of our Lorekeepers—caretakers of the Traveling Teahouse and collectors of magical teas, forgotten recipes, and stories from across the realms. The Lorekeepers will guide you through an immersive culinary journey through distant lands, introducing each tea's unique origin and sharing the legends that accompany every brew.
Enjoy a thoughtfully curated flight of exceptional teas from our friends at Leaf & Petal, each inspired by a different fantastical realm and paired with handcrafted local chocolates and delightful delicacies. Along the journey, the Lorekeepers will lead tables through playful activities, inviting you to become part of the story rather than simply observe it.
Before or after your tasting, wander the enchanted gardens, challenge your companions to whimsical lawn games, relax among the flowers, or capture memories beneath our custom fantasy photo installation nestled among the roses.
Guests are encouraged to arrive as their magical selves! Fae, elves, witches, wizards, knights, dragon riders, beast tamers, adventurers, scholars, and magical creatures of every kind are welcome within the walls of the Traveling Teahouse.
For those wishing to preserve a bit of the magic, professional fantasy portrait mini-sessions will also be available as an optional add-on (see below).

Second Seating: 2:30pm
Tea Tastings last approximately 75 minutes.

What to expect
The Traveling Teahouse is a seated outdoor gathering where guests will enjoy:
a flight of several fine teas (served chilled to relieve you from the August heat)
delectable faerie stones (aka handcrafted chocolate bon bons) to accompany your tea
lite fare and tea snacks from local restaurants
delightful games, led by the Teahouse Lorekeepers, to encourage connection and frivolity
surprise treasures for you to take home!

Treat yourself to a magical memory of the day. Our photography team will be offering a series of mini-photoshoots to capture your unique beauty & charm for years to come!
How it works:
Meet your photographer at the gazebo in Mamie Davis Park at your scheduled time.
Tell the photographer if you have any ideas or visions for you photoshoot.
You and the photographer will take advantage of the beautiful gardens, gazebo, and a staged photo area. You will have 15 minutes for your shoot.
You will receive posing assistance from the photographer. If there are specific poses wanted, please request as soon as possible.
In the photoshoot, 3 photos will be taken and checked to ensure good quality (i.e. no blinking or movement), and will be retaken as necessary by the photographer. If any additional photos are taken, the photographer will make the final decision on which will be sent and other options will not be available for review or purchase. Only three photos will be delivered after the shoot.
Your three photos will be edited and sent within one week of the event, via email collected at time of payment.
Can I do a photoshoot with friends? Larger groups are allowed, but will be treated as one entity with 3 photos total that do not include any individual shots.
Do I have to buy a ticket to the Tea Tasting to sign up for a photoshoot? No! Anyone attending Swords, Brooms and Magical Beasts can sign up for a photoshoot. You do not have to purchase a ticket to the Traveling Teahouse.
What if I miss my slot? As the photographers are reserving time specifically for you, no refunds will be available for missed photoshoots.

We recommend bringing sunscreen and/or hats to keep you safe from the sun.

Yes, there will be non-dairy creamer and some vegan snack options. Please keep in mind that this is not a full meal.

In the case of light rain, we will plow onwards! (With tents of course to keep us dry.)
In case of heavy rains or lightening, the event will be canceled and ticket holders will receive credit towards future events.
